I’m excited to share my commemorative event tickets and magnets for Phish’s 2025 Riviera Maya shows. The art was inspired by Mayan glyphs and pottery. The original art was created using micron pens and watercolor.
Each stub measures 2.75 x 6.5 inches (the same size as PTBM tickets) and is printed on coated 130 lb card stock by Fireball Printing in Philadelphia. The back features a QR code that links to the setlists on Phish.net. https://joseeen.etsy.com/listing/1858348661

This show featured two bustouts: Peaches en Regalia, which was performed for the first time since July 22, 2017 (138 shows), and The Maker, which was performed for the first time since October 15, 1994 (997 shows). So Damn Lucky also made its Phish debut at this show. Tweezer contained Freddie’s Dead teases from Trey and The Lizards teases from Trey and Page. Trey teased Tweezer in Soul Planet and Tube. Trey teased Smoke on the Water in Meat. The encore featured Dave Matthews on guitar and vocals.
This show contained the Phish debut of (I Can’t Get No) Satisfaction, albeit a partial version containing only the first verse and chorus. The unfinished Down with Disease’s lyrics were changed to reference “sand” and “beach.” Trey teased Wading in the Velvet Sea in Antelope.
Axilla contained the Axilla II ending. Trey teased the theme from Speed Racer in Twist. Trey asked Chris Kuroda to turn off the lights during the pause in Divided Sky, and said “don’t shine that thing in my face.” Sleeping Monkey was dedicated to their hosts and the beautiful beings that welcomed Phish to their home and contained a Shipwreck quote.
Fat Man in the Bathtub was performed for the first time since December 30, 2010 (386 shows). After Weekapaug, Trey quoted a line from Silence of the Lambs and Page added a Shipwreck quote. My Friend My Friend did not contain the “Myfe” ending. Trey teased on Broadway in Melt. Trey teased San-Ho-Zay and Third Stone From the Sun in NMINML.
This show was webcast via LivePhish and featured multiple bustouts: Torn and Frayed was last played on July 7, 2012 (285 shows), Shipwreck was last played on October 31, 2014 (189 shows), and Shake Your Coconuts was played on July 21, 2017 (100 shows). The return to Free contained Rescue Squad and Shipwreck quotes. The lyrics in Shake Your Coconuts were changed to “It’s Phish in Mexico time.” Trey teased Walk This Way in You Enjoy Myself.
This show was webcast via LivePhish. Shafty was last played on June 10, 2012 (302 shows) and Sea and Sand on July 20, 1998 (670 shows). The second Shafty was performed over Plasma. Page teased the theme from Speed Racer in The Lizards. Bathtub Gin was dedicated to the people at CID who organized the event and in honor of the fact that everyone had a hot tub in their room and also included a Gimme Some Lovin’ tease from Page before transitioning back into Shafty. Blaze On’s lyrics were changed to “you’ll be dancing on the beach.” Blaze On also included Plasma teases. Possum contained Back on the Train and Shafty teases and ended with a Plasma tease. Trey teased Another One Bites the Dust in Also Sprach Zarathustra. Trey teased L.A. Woman in I Always Wanted It This Way. No Men In No Man’s Land included Shafty and Woman from Tokyo teases. Weekapaug Groove contained No Men In No Man’s Land quotes as well as a Smoke on the Water tease from Trey.
This show was webcast via LivePhish. Willin’ was performed for the first time since October 31, 2010 (349 show gap) and featured Trey on drums. On stage, Fishman changed from his Jimmy Buffet style beach tuxedo into his mumu after Willin’. Page then teased Hold Your Head Up. Trey teased Tired of Waiting for You in Tube and Dave’s Energy Guide in Tweezer. Manteca was performed for the first time since July 19, 2016 (136 show gap) included Tweezer teases from Fish and Trey. Sweet Jane was performed for the first time since July 23, 2017 (100 shows). Makisupa Policeman was played over backing music and quotes of You Sexy Thing. Waves contained Soul Planet quotes. Trey teased The Star Spangled Banner in Tweezer Reprise.

I’m excited to present may latest linocut for Phish’s return to Riviera Maya in 2019. Continuing my tradition of creating a block print for all their past shows in Mexico, I went bigger than ever before, carving a 12×18 block. I was inspired by the work of Albert Dürer’s woodcut, The Four Horsemen (1498). It was printed on 18×24 90lb paper, hand printed and pulled (really wish I had a press for this size!) Phish returned to Mexico for another 3 night run along the beach of the Riviera Maya. I was able to stream the shows live, and have sets of the 3 night run prints available in 11×17 and 8.5×11 sizes. Purchase prints here .
I recently finished up a new linocut for Phish’s upcoming shows in Mexico. Prints are hand-pulled, and printed on 108 lb 11×14 paper, and limited to an edition of 50 (although there will be some color variants in the near future). Prints are available for purchase in my shop, Joseeen.etsy.com.
A last minute decision, I was inspired to do something after attending their 12/28 show, as well as streaming the rest of the run. Trying to come up with something appropriate for a Mexico run poster, I recalled the work of Jose Guadalupe Posada, who’s artwork is best associated with Day of the Dead. I recently had several students choose him for a presentation in my class, so I actually learned quite a bit from them! After looking at many of his prints I took elements from two of them, El Cometa del Centenario de la Independencia (The Comet Marking the Centennial of Independence) and El Pequeño Adivinadorcito (The Young Diviner) to create my illustration.
This is my largest edition to date, and marks the beginning of year full of block prints. I hope to try some more complicated methods, as well as working larger, although this would require me to look into a printing press (and a bigger apt!) I’ll be working on some color variants soon, and will be posting those here shortly!
Phish recently played their first ever shows in Mexico, on the beaches of Barcelo Maya Resort. I wasn’t able to make it, but at least was able to watch it live via stream. These show setlists are available for purchase as a 3 print set of the entire run.

I recently finished up a linocut poster for the Phish Riviera Maya shows in Mexico coming up this weekend. I had been on the fence whether or not I wanted to do something for this show, since I normally just do illustrated setlists for the shows. But the idea came organically, and with a 2 week Christmas break, I really had no reason not to. I have done lucha libre inspired artwork in the past, and wanted to avoid the Mayan/Aztec based theme, so this seemed very fitting.
Inspired by vintage lucha libre screenprinted posters, I knew this was be challenge to accomplish. My “studio” consists of whatever space I have in my apartment, which doesn’t allow enough space for screenprinting. The next logical option would be to recreate a poster via block print (linocut). Although I’m familiar with linocuts, I’ve never done one this size, which usually work best when using a press. Although they were hand pulled, I actually used a baren, which helped create a more consistent black.
My first couple pulls were actually 2 color blends, which was utilized by many lucha libre posters, but I wasn’t overall impressed with it. I made a small edition of these, and may play around with it more in the future.
I finally decided on a tri color background, which I saw on a few lucha posters, but are mainly with old concert posters. Without the ability to screenprint, I had to find a way to mimic that look. I did a few with a watercolor background, but it was a bit to light for me. acrylic took a lot of time, and gouache seemed like a likely winner, but then I remembered I have a ton of cans of spraypaint, and was able to get the color blending I wanted.
