Phish Summer 2018 Series- Merriweather

The 9th print in my summer tour series.  Inspired by “The Mummy” (1959).  This was actually the first one I did in the series.  I was creating a bunch of sketches for ideas at the time, and the Mummy/Merriweather seemed to work out well.  The poster was based off several of the Mummy posters, and of course, the song Tube was in my head the whole time I was working on it.  As always, the images are all drawn, inked and watercolored, then scanned and digitally arranged. Prints are 13×19 on cardstock, signed and limited to an edition of 150.  Prints are currently available for sale in my shop: www.joseeen.etsy.com , and will be available on lot before the shows.

Phish Summer 2018 Series- Walnut Creek

The 8th print in my summer tour series.  It was inspired by the poster for “Target Earth” (1954).  This one was one of the trickiest prints I created, since with my method, I have to break the image up in order to work with it digitally to create the final image. I had to do lots of color mixing to recreate the colors and managed to creating the hazy effect without digital manipulation.

Phish Summer 2018 Series- Camden

The 7th print in my summer tour series. This was the poster I was most excited for, because its a hometown show (although I’d rather be at the Mann!) and I felt it captures the feel of Camden.  The print is based off the poster for “Werewolves on Wheels” (1971).  The lack of background allowed me to take more time in recreating the main image, which I created using brush and ink.  This was one of my biggest challenges, and I tried to keep it true to the original, although I did make some changes (Trey’s guitar, a telephone, the Rhombus, Biker Trey)  As always, the images are all drawn, inked and watercolored, then scanned and digitally arranged. Prints are 13×19 on cardstock, signed and limited to an edition of 150.  Prints are currently available for sale in my shop: www.joseeen.etsy.com , and will be available on lot before the shows.

Phish Summer 2018 Series- Alpharetta, GA

The sixth print in my summer tour series.  For the Alpharetta shows I was inspired by the iconic poster for Attack of the 50 Foot Woman (1958) by Reynold Brown.  By the time I got to this print, I felt way more comfortable working in Brown’s style and decided to change things up a bit. Although I drew the background true to the original, I replaced the 50 ft Woman with a llama, mainly because I found it humorous.  The background was once of the most complicated to draw, with so much going on.

Phish Summer 2018 series- Austin TX

The fifth print in my summer tour series.  For the Austin show I was inspired by the poster for The Giant Gila Monster (1959).  This was a simple one, basically a recreation of the original poster that I hand drew and colored.  I used lyrics from Shafty, since they were similar to the poster quote (“Only Hell could could breed such an enormous beast!”)  Prints are 13×19 on cardstock, signed and limited to an edition of 150.  Prints are currently available for sale in my shop: www.joseeen.etsy.com , and prints will be available on lot before the show.

Phish Summer 2018 series- The Forum

The fourth print in my summer tour series.  For the Inglewood show at the Forum, I was inspired by the poster for the Japanese kaiju film “Yog:Monster From Space (aka Space Amoeba)” (1970).  This was probably my most complicated illustration to date in the series.  I had to create quite a few different paintings to get all the elements I needed to recreate it.  Instead of the Earth, I opted for an Inglewood landmark, the Randy’s Donut sign.   Prints are 13×19 on cardstock, signed and limited to an edition of 150.  Prints are currently available for sale in my shop: www.joseeen.etsy.com , and prints will be available on lot before the show.
