Mike’s Song and Tweezer both contained BEK teases, with the ones in Tweezer taking place well before the segue into BEK. Fans of stage banter will want to seek out the second set for Trey’s humorous response to the crowd’s Destiny Unbound chant before Halley’s. The “Marco Esquandolas” lyric in Antelope was changed to “Michael Esquandolas.” This show was released as part of the Hampton/Winston-Salem ’97 box set.

Phish Dinner and Movie Setlists

For the last 20 weeks, Phish has been doing a weekly stream called Dinner and a Movie. They have been streaming past shows, some recent, some very old, and some never before seen. For many of us, this is a source of calm and happiness in such a turbulent world. For me it’s also an opportunity to create some setlist art! Although I’ve created some of them before, there’s something about posting a set right after as if it were a live show. The most exciting are the shows I haven’t created before. I’ve been posting the setlists on social media ( twitter, instagram, facebook, reddit) as I would during a regular tour.

I’ve had people ask about the setlist art, and yes, it is all available for sale! I decided to create an easier way for people to find the Dinner and a Movie setlists in my shop. You can now find every setlist in one listing. I also have them available as a digital file, which you can print yourself in any size you wish or on anything you want!

An Asteroid Crashed and Nothing Burned

I’ve just released my newest print, inspired by lyrics from the Phish song “Tube”. This was originally going to be my poster for their shows in Atlantic City. I was halfway through with the drawing when it seemed obvious that there were no concerts happening this summer, but wanted to finish it (mainly for therapeutic value!) It’s drawn using micron pens, with the smaller details created using a .005 sized pen. I had a lot of fun with this, and it includes many hidden Phish references, as well as some randomness here and there.

I’ve drawn this image several times throughout the last 10 years or so. The first one was an 18×24 ink and watercolor illustration, and several others were simpler 8×10 canvases, as well as some hand drawn sticker versions.

Phish 7/21/97 (Dinner and a Movie)

While most of the Phish Dinner and the Movie webcasts have been shows I had previously created an illustrated setlist for, I was very excited for this one! I had heard about this show for years, and had tried to find video for after reading about what went on during this show. I was very excited to watch this show as well as make a setlist for !

The jam during Bathtub Gin featured Trey jumping up and down in time with a syncopated jam, as well as strong Drowned teases. Near the end of the jam, Trey mentioned how good it was to be back home and named the four newer songs that were played. The beginning of Bowie included Radar Love teases from Mike and a Birdland jam and Wolfman’s included a Bathtub Gin tease. The jam out of Theme, as well as Funky Bitch, featured LeRoi Moore on saxophone. The jam with LeRoi included a segment where he played two saxes, Trey played three guitars, Mike played two basses and the Cracklin’ Rosie cymbals, Fish had four drumsticks and Page was lying across his keyboards playing as many as possible. At one point, Trey grabbed two drumsticks and played them on Fish’s cymbals and his guitar before tossing them into the crowd. LeRoi also teased the Woody Woodpecker theme during the jam.
